FAQS ABOUT THUNDER AURORA

Q1: How do I choose the right Aurora laser marking machine?
Choosing the right Aurora laser marking machine depends on your material, application, budget, and production needs. For general metal marking, a fiber laser marking machine is a strong choice. For stainless steel color marking, anodized aluminum black marking, and advanced plastic marking, MOPA fiber is recommended. For glass, ceramics, packaging materials, and heat-sensitive plastics, a UV laser marking machine may be more suitable.
Q2: Is the Aurora Series safe to use?
Thunder Laser Aurora Series is designed with user safety in mind. Depending on the model, safety features may include an enclosed protective cover, safety interlock, emergency stop button, warning light, protective viewing window, and Class 1 safety enclosure design. These features help reduce laser exposure risks and make the machine more suitable for workshops, studios, schools, and business environments.
Q3: What software does the Aurora Series support?

The Aurora Series supports professional laser marking workflows and is compatible with commonly used laser software such as LightBurn on supported models. Users can import designs, adjust marking parameters, prepare text, logos, serial numbers, barcodes, and graphics, then control the marking process efficiently. This makes Aurora easier to use for both beginners and experienced laser users.

Q4: Can the Aurora Series mark curved or cylindrical objects?
Yes. With rotary engraving support, the Aurora Series can mark cylindrical and curved objects such as tumblers, bottles, cups, rings, pens, tools, pipes, and round metal parts. This is especially useful for personalized products, drinkware customization, jewelry engraving, and industrial part identification.
Q5: Is the Aurora Series suitable for small business production?
Yes. Thunder Laser Aurora Series is suitable for small businesses, workshops, personalization studios, jewelry makers, product manufacturers, and industrial users. It supports high-speed marking, fine details, rotary engraving, and a compact workflow, making it useful for custom gifts, metal tags, drinkware, tools, electronics, promotional products, and batch production.
Q6: Can a laser marking machine engrave deeply?
Yes, laser marking machines can create different marking depths depending on laser power, material type, speed, frequency, and number of passes. For most applications, Aurora Series is used for surface marking, logo engraving, product identification, and fine-detail engraving. For deeper metal engraving, users can apply slower speeds, higher power, and multiple passes to remove more material.
Q7: Can the Aurora Series mark metal?

Yes. The Aurora Series is well suited for metal laser marking. Fiber and MOPA fiber laser options can create permanent marks on stainless steel, aluminum, brass, copper, titanium, gold, silver, coated metals, anodized aluminum, tools, tags, jewelry, hardware, and industrial parts. This makes Aurora a practical solution for both custom product engraving and traceability marking.

Q8: What is the difference between fiber, MOPA, and UV laser marking machines?

Fiber laser marking machines are widely used for fast, durable marking on metals and many plastics. MOPA laser marking machines offer more flexible pulse control, making them suitable for color marking on stainless steel, black marking on anodized aluminum, and more refined plastic marking. UV laser marking machines use a shorter wavelength, creating lower-heat marking effects for glass, plastics, ceramics, and sensitive materials that may deform or burn under higher heat.

Q9: What materials can the Aurora Series laser marking machine process?
Thunder Laser Aurora Series can mark a wide range of materials, depending on the laser source. Fiber and MOPA fiber models are ideal for metals such as stainless steel, aluminum, brass, copper, titanium, gold, silver, and anodized aluminum, as well as many plastics. UV laser models are better suited for heat-sensitive materials such as glass, certain plastics, ceramics, packaging films, and delicate electronic components.
Q10: What is the Thunder Aurora Series designed for?
The Thunder Aurora Series is designed for high-speed laser marking and engraving, especially for applications that require fine details, permanent marks, and efficient production. The series includes fiber, MOPA fiber, and UV laser options, making it suitable for metal marking, plastic marking, personalized products, industrial parts, tools, jewelry, electronics, and more.
Q11: How hard are the machines to setup?

Setting up our machines is surprisingly straightforward. Typically, we can unbox and set them up in just 30 minutes at a trade show.

Unlike many lasers that necessitate a complex alignment upon arrival, our machines are robustly constructed to maintain alignment during transit. This design philosophy ensures that if a machine is prone to misalignment during shipping, it's likely to require frequent realignments, leading to lost time and unnecessary frustration for you.

With our machines, you can expect consistent, hassle-free performance.

Q12: Does Aurora supports rotary?
Yes.
Q13: What are the differences between Aurora and CO₂ Machines?

Taking Aurora Lite and Thunder Bolt as examples.

Machine Structure:

The Aurora Lite boasts a galvo marking design coupled with a fiber laser source, offering precision and speed in marking applications. On the other hand, the Thunder Bolt features a gantry and belted structure powered by an RF CO2 laser source, catering to cutting and engraving tasks with versatility.

Performance:

The distinction in machine structure translates to notable differences in performance metrics. With the Aurora Lite, enjoy an impressive maximum marking and scanning speed of 7000mm/s, ideal for swift and intricate marking tasks. Meanwhile, the Thunder Bolt showcases a maximum engraving speed of 1000mm/s, facilitating efficient cutting and engraving operations.

Material Compatibility:

Thanks to their distinct laser sources, each machine excels in different material applications. The Thunder Bolt shines in engraving and cutting a wide array of non-metal materials, offering versatility for diverse projects.

Conversely, the Aurora Lite’s fiber laser source enables it to engrave bare metals with precision, a capability unmatched by the Thunder Bolt.

Synergistic Partnership: Together, the Aurora Lite and Thunder Bolt form a dynamic duo in any workshop setting. Their complementary functionalities enhance productivity and streamline workflows, empowering businesses to achieve greater efficiency and effectiveness in their operations.

Invest in these powerhouse machines to elevate your workshop capabilities and unlock new dimensions of productivity and creativity.

Q14: Does Aurora Lite have interchangeable field lens?

Yes, typically, field lenses with smaller marking areas can produce finer laser spots. Conversely, lenses with larger marking areas can engrave bigger patterns. However, it’s essential to note that larger work area lenses require longer focal distances. Moreover, due to the enclosed housing structure for safety purposes, the maximum work height is consequently reduced.

Taking Aurora Lite as example, the standard lens for the Aurora Lite is the F-210, accommodating a maximum work area of 145 x 145 mm. As options, you can select the F160 (110 x 110 mm) or the F290 (200 x 200 mm) lenses as options to suit your specific requirements.
