Introduction

Golf club laser cleaning and marking can restore a worn metal surface while adding permanent personalized details such as names, logos, symbols, or decorative patterns. In this project, the Thunder Aurora Lite processes a stainless steel golf club head through a three-layer workflow that combines surface cleaning, laser marking, and a final silver-finish cleaning pass.


This tutorial explains how to position the curved golf club head, prepare the three processing layers, apply the tested starting settings, adjust cleaning passes for different surface conditions, and complete the cleaning and marking process without moving the workpiece between layers. The settings were tested by the Thunder Laser Application Team and should be adjusted according to the club material, coating, rust condition, surface curvature, and desired final appearance.

Before your work begins

Make sure the machine is connected and operating normally
Remove the lens cover before marking
Verify the lens is clean and the exhaust fan is working well
Keep the stainless steel golf club stable and test the marking settings before the final job

Operational Process

STEP01

Prepare & Position the Golf Club

Place the stainless steel golf club on the laser bed and make sure the marking area is stable. Inspect the club head before processing. Light dirt or oxidation may require only a few cleaning passes, while visible rust or damaged coatings may require additional passes. Test a small hidden area first because golf club finishes and coatings vary.


Because a golf club has a curved and uneven surface, secure it carefully before processing. A stable setup helps keep the laser marking area aligned and prevents the design from shifting during the job.

STEP02

Import & Adjust the Marking File

Load your design into LightBurn software, then adjust the size and position to fit the stainless steel golf club.


This project uses three processing stages: an initial cleaning layer, a design marking layer, and a final cleaning layer. The first cleaning stage prepares or restores the surface, while the last cleaning stage brightens the completed mark.


The required number of laser cleaning passes depends on the surface condition. Light dirt or oxidation may need only a small number of passes, while visible rust, damaged coatings, or deeper contamination may require repeated cleaning. Use the listed settings as a starting point and inspect the surface after each pass group.

STEP03

Set the Correct Laser Focus

Missing the focus is one of the biggest reasons for laser marking failure. Make sure the stainless steel golf club surface is properly focused before processing.


You can use auto focus or manual focus. When two red dots are visible on the golf club surface, it is out of focus. When the two light dots overlap each other, the surface is in focus.

STEP04

Frame the Design & Start Laser Marking

Press the frame button and check whether the red light indicates the correct marking area. The frame should be located in the middle of the stainless steel golf club marking area.


If the frame is not aligned, adjust the design position until it fits correctly. After checking, close the laser door and begin the Aurora Lite laser marking process.

STEP05

Post Processing

Stay near the machine during operation and monitor for unusual sounds or alarms. Avoid looking directly at the laser beam for too long, even when protective measures are in place.


Once laser marking is complete, let the golf club cool down for a while. Then remove it from the laser machine and clean the surface gently. The personalized stainless steel golf club is ready to use after simple cleaning.
