Custom American Football

Place the American football in a suitable holder or jig to prevent it from rolling or shifting during engraving.

Check that the selected area is clean and stable. Choose a section with as little curvature as practical, and make sure the ball and holder will not interfere with the laser head's movement.

Confirm that the ball's outer material and coating are suitable for laser processing before proceeding. Do not engrave unidentified materials without verifying their safety.

Open your laser software, such as LaserMaker, and import the design file. A logo, name, number, or simple graphic can work well for a personalized American football.

Resize and position the design to fit the selected area of the ball. Keep the artwork within the intended engraving area and confirm that the design will not extend onto an excessively curved section.

Use the settings from the actual test as a starting reference only. The appropriate settings and final result can vary with the surface material, coating, and color.

Set the focus on the exact area of the American football that you plan to engrave, following the focusing procedure for your machine.

Because the ball has a curved surface, the distance between the laser head and the surface may vary across different areas. For the most consistent results, keep the design within a suitable working area and confirm that the surface height remains within the machine's effective focus range.

If the surface height varies too much across the design, reduce the engraving area or reassess the setup before starting the job.

Use the Frame or Border function to check the design's position before engraving. Make sure the preview stays within the selected area and does not intersect with the holder or other obstructions.

Once the position is confirmed, start the job and monitor the process closely. Watch for unexpected smoke, scorching, ignition, or other abnormal reactions. Stop the machine and follow the appropriate safety procedures if anything unusual occurs.

After the job is complete, inspect the engraved area for clarity, consistency, and any signs of unwanted surface damage.

If residue remains, clean the surface only with a method suitable for the ball's material and coating. Avoid aggressive cleaners that could damage the finish.
