Introduction

Let’s create a mandala coin with intricate laser marking details.

A zinc alloy coin is a great base for fine decorative patterns. With delicate wraparound details and a layered mandala design, the finished coin becomes a meaningful craft piece, collectible, or custom gift.

In this tutorial, you will learn how to position the coin, import the marking file, set the correct focus, frame the design, monitor the marking process, and finish a detailed mandala coin with Aurora 8.

Operational Process

STEP01

Prepare & Position the Zinc Alloy Coin

Place the zinc alloy coin flat on the work plate. Since the coin is a flat circle, keeping it near the center of the plate helps with alignment and stability.

Make sure the coin surface is clean and free of dust, oil, or fingerprints before marking. A clean surface helps produce a sharper and more consistent mandala pattern.

STEP02

Import & Adjust the Marking File

Open the mandala coin file in LightBurn, then adjust the design size and position to fit your zinc alloy coin.

Check both laser marking parameter groups carefully before starting. The mandala pattern contains fine details, so accurate settings are important for clean lines and layered visual depth.

STEP03

Set the Correct Laser Focus

Focus is the key to a successful laser marking result. If the focus is ignored, the mandala details may not be sharp enough.

You can use the red-dot focus method or manual focus. For manual focus, adjust the laser head until the focus stick just touches the coin surface in a vertical position.

STEP04

Frame the Design & Start Laser Marking

Use the frame or outline function to preview the marking area. The red light should show the outline of the design on the coin surface.

If the frame is not aligned, move the coin or adjust the design position until they match. Once everything is ready, start laser marking with Aurora 8 and monitor the process carefully.

Post Processing

Keep an eye on the machine during marking so you can spot unusual conditions, such as error alarms, smoke build-up, or unexpected pauses.

Laser marking a metal mandala may produce powder or residue. After the job is complete, open the door carefully, remove the zinc alloy coin, and clean both the finished coin and the inside of the machine.

Come and Try!

Durable enough for years of handling and detailed enough to be admired up close, a laser-marked mandala coin can become a meaningful gift, collectible, or token of reflection.

Whether you are creating a thoughtful gift for a friend, adding eye-catching collectibles to your shop, or designing keepsakes for a wellness event, laser marking turns simple metal coins into timeless treasures full of calm, intention, and personal significance.
