Introduction

Are you still wondering what to make with your laser engraving machine?

Try customizing a wooden bookmark for your books. Reading is not always continuous, and a bookmark helps you keep your place without folding page corners or trying to remember a page number.

With laser engraving, you can add your name, favorite quote, or special pattern to a beech wood bookmark and make your reading experience more personal.

Before your work begins

Clean the lens and mirrors
Check the laser head and nozzle for dust or buildup
Ensure ventilation and air assist are working properly
Confirm the machine is running smoothly and normally

Operational Process

STEP01

Prepare & Position the Wood

Place the beech wood flat on the laser bed and make sure the surface is clean and smooth.

Secure the wood if needed so it does not shift during engraving. A stable surface helps keep the bookmark text or pattern crisp and properly aligned.

STEP02

Import & Adjust the Design File

Import the wooden bookmark design file into LightBurn, then adjust the size, position, and engraving settings according to the beech wood.

Check that the name, quote, or pattern is placed within the desired bookmark area before starting the laser job.

STEP03

Set the Correct Laser Focus

Accurate focusing is important for clean engraving on wood.

If your machine has auto focus, use it for quick setup. For manual focusing, lower the laser head with the focus stick until it touches the wood surface at the correct angle.

Frame the Design and Start Laser Engraving

Use the Frame function to check the engraving area and confirm that the design stays within the wooden bookmark.

Once everything is aligned, start the laser engraving job. Stay near the machine and monitor the process to ensure the engraved details remain clean and even.

After engraving, remove the wooden bookmark from the laser bed and check whether the engraved text or pattern is clear.

Gently wipe away any dust or residue if needed. Your personalized wooden bookmark is now ready to use or give as a thoughtful gift.
