Introduction

Are you still looking for what you can make with a laser?

Try customizing a wooden pen holder for your desk. A clean, personalized pen holder can help organize your pens and make your workspace feel less messy.

With laser engraving, you can add patterns, names, or creative details to beech wood and turn a simple stationery item into a useful desk accessory with personal style.

Before your work begins

Clean the lens and mirrors
Check the laser head and nozzle for dust or buildup
Ensure ventilation and air assist are working properly
Confirm the machine is running smoothly and normally

Operational Process

STEP01

Prepare & Position the Wood

Place the beech wood flat on the laser bed and make sure the surface is clean and stable.

Secure the wood if needed so it does not shift during engraving. The design should also be adjusted according to the actual type and size of the material before processing.

STEP02

Import & Adjust the Design File

Import the pen holder design file into LightBurn, then adjust the size, position, and engraving settings according to the beech wood.

Check that the pattern or text is placed within the desired engraving area before starting the laser job.

STEP03

Set the Correct Laser Focus

Accurate focusing is important for clean engraving on wood.

If your machine has auto focus, use it for quick setup. For manual focusing, lower the laser head with the focus stick until it touches the wood surface at the correct angle.

Frame the Design and Start Laser Engraving

Use the Frame function to check the engraving area and confirm that the design stays within the pen holder material.

Once everything is aligned, start the laser engraving job. Stay near the machine and monitor the process to ensure the engraved details remain clean and even.
