Start by peeling off the protective film from the top surface of the acrylic sheet—the side that faces the laser. This prevents burn marks or smoke stains from forming on the visible surface during cutting.

You can leave the bottom film on to protect the underside while it rests on the workbed. Once ready, place the acrylic flat on the laser cutter’s bed and secure it with pins or magnets.

Import the fingerprint love lamp design into your laser software, such as LaserMaker or LightBurn, and check if your acrylic size is large enough.

For a design with many details, make sure there are no misalignments or unnecessary overlaps in the file. Double-check the engraving and cutting parameters so the fingerprint details stay clear and the outer shape cuts cleanly.

Accurate focusing is critical for achieving crisp engraving details and smooth cutting edges on acrylic. If your machine has auto focus, use it for quick setup. For manual focusing, lower the laser head with the focus stick until it touches the acrylic surface at the correct angle.

Use the Frame function to outline the engraving and cutting area. Make sure the projected frame matches your acrylic sheet and the design stays within the material boundary.

Once everything is aligned, start the laser job. Stay near the machine while it’s running and watch the engraving and cutting progress. Keep an eye out for excessive smoke, alarms, or any movement of the material that could affect the result.

When the laser job is complete, carefully remove the acrylic piece from the laser bed. Peel off any remaining protective film and gently wipe the surface to remove dust or fingerprints.

Insert the engraved acrylic panel into the lamp base and make sure it sits securely. Once powered on, your fingerprint love lamp is ready to glow as a personal keepsake or meaningful gift.
