Introduction

Decorate your pencil holder with a laser-engraved panda design on dual-color board!

The pencil holder features grooves that allow for interchangeable panels, letting you change up the holder's appearance. The laser engraving creates crisp, clear images on the dual-color board, producing a unique effect.

As the laser removes the top layer, it reveals the contrasting color underneath, making the panda design really stand out.

Before your work begins

Clean the lens and mirrors
Check the laser head and nozzle for dust or buildup
Ensure ventilation and air assist are working properly
Confirm the machine is running smoothly and normally

Operational Process

STEP01

Prepare & Position the Material

Choose a dual-color board and place it flat on the laser bed. A stable, even surface helps keep the engraving details sharp and the cutting path accurate.

Secure the board with magnets or other suitable tools to prevent shifting during engraving and cutting.

STEP02

Import & Adjust the Design File

Import the pencil holder panel file into LightBurn, then adjust the size, position, and settings according to your dual-color board.

Double-check the engraving and cutting settings before starting. Make sure the panda image and panel outline are correctly placed.

Set the Correct Laser Focus

Accurate focusing is important for achieving clear engraving and clean cutting edges on dual-color board. If your machine has auto focus, use it for quick setup. For manual focusing, lower the laser head with the focus stick until it touches the board surface at the correct angle.

Start Engraving & Cutting

Use the Frame function to outline the laser processing area. Make sure the projected frame matches your dual-color board and the panel design stays within the material boundary.

Once everything is aligned, start the laser job. Stay near the machine while it’s running and monitor the engraving and cutting process carefully.

Post Processing

When the engraving and cutting are complete, carefully remove the dual-color board panel from the laser bed.

Clean the surface if needed, then insert the finished panel into the pencil holder groove. You can switch panels anytime to refresh the look of your desk decor.

The interchangeable panels make it easy to switch up the look whenever you want, turning a practical pencil holder into a creative conversation starter.
