Introduction

Let's make a multi-layered night light out of wood!

This project uses multiple layers of wood to construct a Christmas-themed lamp. Each layer features festive elements such as a Christmas tree, a house, and a reindeer, creating a night light with beautiful visual depth.

When the lamp is turned on, the layered structure creates a three-dimensional and warm holiday lighting effect.

Before your work begins

Clean the lens and mirrors
Check the laser head and nozzle for dust or buildup
Ensure ventilation and air assist are working properly
Confirm the machine is running smoothly and normally

Operational Process

STEP01

Prepare & Position the Material

Prepare the wood plank and place it flat on the laser bed. A clean, stable surface helps keep each Christmas-themed layer accurately cut.

Secure the wood if needed to prevent shifting during cutting, especially when processing thin tree shapes, house details, reindeer layers, and small LED holes.

STEP02

Import & Adjust the Design File

Import the multi-layered night light file into LightBurn, then adjust the size, position, and cutting settings according to your wood plank.

Double-check every layer before starting. Make sure the tree, house, reindeer, base board, and LED holes are correctly placed and ready for cutting.

Set the Correct Laser Focus

Accurate focusing is important for achieving clean cutting edges on wood. If your machine has auto focus, use it for quick setup. For manual focusing, lower the laser head with the focus stick until it touches the wood surface at the correct angle.

Start Cutting

Use the Frame function to outline the laser cutting area. Make sure the projected frame matches your wood plank and the night light design stays within the material boundary.

Once everything is aligned, start the laser job. Stay near the machine while it’s running and monitor the cutting process carefully.

Post Processing

When the laser cutting is complete, carefully remove all wooden layers from the laser bed.

Assemble the patterned wooden boards in order on the base board, applying a small amount of glue to the contact areas. Once positioned, thread the LED lights through the small holes underneath to complete the night light.
