Introduction
Are you still looking for what you can make with a laser cutter?
Try creating a plywood version of a classic eight-horse painting. This project combines laser engraving and cutting to reproduce an ink-wash-style artwork on wood.
After engraving the horse artwork and cutting the outer shape, you can frame the finished piece and use it as a decorative wall display for your living room, studio, or office.
Before your work begins
Operational Process
Prepare & Position the Plywood
Place the 9mm plywood sheet flat on the laser working table and make sure the surface is clean and stable.
Secure the plywood if needed so it does not shift during engraving and cutting. The design should also be adjusted according to the actual type and size of the material before processing.
Import & Adjust the Design File
Design the eight-horse painting file in CorelDraw, then send it to the laser software using the laser plug-in.
Input the engraving and cutting parameters, check the processing layers, and download the file to the laser cutter. The settings are only for reference, so users should test to find the best settings for their own material and machine.
Set the Correct Laser Focus
Move the laser head to the correct starting position and adjust the focal distance before engraving and cutting.
After focusing, press the Origin button to set the starting point. Accurate focusing helps achieve clearer engraving details and more reliable cutting results on plywood.
Frame the Design & Start Laser Engraving & Cutting
Use the Frame function to check the working area and confirm that the eight-horse painting design stays within the plywood sheet.
Once everything is aligned, press Start to run the engraving and cutting job. Stay near the machine and monitor the process carefully.
Post Processing
When the job is complete, carefully take out the engraved plywood painting and check whether the engraving and cutting results are clear.
Place the finished artwork into a frame. Once framed, it is ready to decorate your living room, studio, or office.
Come and Try!
Plywood is a practical material for engraved wall art because it provides a natural surface for detailed images and framed decoration.
With laser engraving and cutting, you can turn classic artwork into a wooden display piece that brings a traditional and elegant feel to your space.
