Key Information
Introduction
Are you still looking for a fun wooden vehicle project for your laser cutter?
Try making a wooden go kart from 3mm plywood. Although a go kart is a simple racing vehicle, it can bring plenty of hands-on building fun.
With laser cutting, you can create clean plywood parts, assemble them into a small go kart model, and enjoy the process of turning flat material into a playful 3D craft.
Before your work begins
Operational Process
Prepare & Position the Plywood
Prepare the 3mm plywood and place it flat on the laser working table.
Keep the plywood stable before cutting. The design should also be adjusted according to the actual type and size of the material before processing.
Import & Adjust the Design File
Draw or prepare the wooden go kart design file in CorelDraw, then switch to the laser software using the laser plug-in.
Set the proper cutting parameters in the laser software, then click Download to transfer the design to your laser cutting machine. This design needs to be cut three times to prepare enough parts for assembly.
Set the Correct Laser Focus
Move the laser head to the correct starting position and adjust the focal distance before cutting.
After focusing, press Origin on the control panel to set the starting position. Accurate focusing helps achieve cleaner plywood cutting results.
Frame the Design & Start Laser Cutting
Use the Frame function to check the cutting area and confirm that the go kart design stays within the plywood sheet.
Once everything is aligned, press Start to begin laser cutting. Stay near the machine and monitor the cutting process carefully.
Post Processing
After cutting, collect all the plywood pieces and check that each part has been cut cleanly.
Assemble the wooden go kart by hand and use glue to secure the parts where needed. Once assembled, the wooden go kart model is ready for play or display.
Come and Try!
A wooden go kart is a fun model-making project that turns simple plywood into a small racing-inspired craft.
With a laser cutter, you can cut precise wooden parts, assemble the model by hand, and enjoy the racing style of your own DIY go kart.
