Introduction

Let's craft custom laser-cut coasters!

The pierced cut-out patterns create high-impact visuals while allowing airflow and helping prevent cup condensation buildup.

Design any motif you can imagine and bring it to life on these round drink rests.

Before your work begins

Clean the lens and mirrors
Check the laser head and nozzle for dust or buildup
Ensure ventilation and air assist are working properly
Confirm the machine is running smoothly and normally

Operational Process

STEP01

Prepare & Position the Material

Prepare a piece of plywood and place it flat on the laser bed. A stable, even surface helps keep the cut-out coaster patterns accurate and clean.

Secure the plywood if needed to prevent shifting during cutting, especially when working with pierced patterns and small details.

STEP02

Import & Adjust the Design File

Import the coaster file into LightBurn, then adjust the size, position, and cutting settings according to your plywood.

Double-check the cut-out pattern and coaster outline before starting. Make sure every detail is correctly placed and stays within the material boundary.

Set the Correct Laser Focus

Accurate focusing is important for achieving clean cutting edges on plywood. If your machine has auto focus, use it for quick setup. For manual focusing, lower the laser head with the focus stick until it touches the plywood surface at the correct angle.

Start Cutting

Use the Frame function to outline the laser cutting area. Make sure the projected frame matches your plywood and the coaster design stays within the selected boundary.

Once everything is aligned, start the laser job. Stay near the machine while it’s running and monitor the cutting process carefully.

Post Processing

When the cutting is complete, carefully remove the plywood coasters from the laser bed.

Lightly clean away any dust or small scraps from the pierced cut-outs. Your custom laser-cut coasters are ready to protect your table and decorate your daily drink setup.
