Introduction

A botanical wooden tissue box adds natural wood texture and delicate plant details to an everyday household item. The cut-through leaf pattern gives the finished cover a light, decorative look while still keeping the structure practical.

This project uses 3mm plywood for the complete box. Each panel, joint, tissue opening, and botanical detail is laser cut before the individual pieces are assembled into the finished cover.

Once you have the basic structure, you can easily change the leaf pattern, flowers, side-panel design, or tissue opening to create a version that suits your own space.

Before your work begins

Make sure the Thunder Bolt is connected and operating normally
Prepare a clean, dry, and flat 3mm plywood sheet
Check the exhaust system and set air assist to HIGH before cutting
Check the panel joints, tissue opening, and botanical cutout paths before processing

Operational Process

STEP01

Prepare & Position the Material

Place the 3mm plywood flat on the laser work bed and make sure the surface is clean, dry, and stable.

Check the sheet for warping before processing. A flat sheet helps the joint slots and narrow botanical details cut consistently across every panel. Secure the plywood with suitable pins or magnets if needed.

STEP02

Import & Adjust the Design File

Import the Botanical Wooden Tissue Box design into LaserMaker and arrange the panels within the available plywood area.

Check the panel outlines, interlocking slots, tissue opening, and botanical cutout paths carefully. If you resize the project, check the tab and slot dimensions again so they still match the 3mm plywood. Set the cutting layer to 10mm/s speed, 30% max power, 10% min power, and HIGH air assist.

STEP03

Set the Correct Laser Focus

Set the laser focus on the top surface of the 3mm plywood before cutting.

Accurate focus helps the laser cut through the plywood cleanly and keeps the interlocking slots, leaves, stems, and small openings well defined. Check that the plywood remains flat after focusing so the focal distance stays consistent across the complete layout.

STEP04

Frame the Design & Start Laser Cutting

Run the Frame function first to confirm that the complete tissue box layout stays within the plywood sheet and leaves enough clearance around the material edges.

Once the position is correct, start laser cutting at 10mm/s speed, 30% max power, 10% min power, with HIGH air assist. Stay near the machine during processing and watch for excessive smoke, flame-ups, alarms, or material movement while the panels and botanical openings are being cut.

Post Processing

Remove the cut plywood pieces from the laser bed and gently brush or wipe away loose dust and soot. Handle the narrow botanical sections carefully while cleaning around the leaves, stems, and small openings.

Fit the side panels, base, and top section together according to the design, making sure each tab sits fully in its matching slot. Check that the finished cover sits square, then place the tissue box inside and pull the tissues through the opening at the top.
