Introduction

Let's make a wall-mounted key and knick-knack rack!

This project uses camphor wood boards to showcase the beautiful natural wood grain texture. Laser-cut hooks provide hanging spaces for keys, jewelry, and other small loose items.

The warm tones and swirling patterns of the wood create a welcoming look for your entryway, while the functional hooks help keep daily essentials neat and easy to find.

Before your work begins

Clean the lens and mirrors
Check the laser head and nozzle for dust or buildup
Ensure ventilation and air assist are working properly
Confirm the machine is running smoothly and normally

Operational Process

STEP01

Prepare & Position the Material

Prepare the wood plank and place it flat on the laser bed. A clean, stable surface helps keep the engraved texture clear and the hook components accurately cut.

Secure the wood if needed to prevent shifting during engraving and cutting, especially when processing hook slots, small joints, and detailed patterns.

STEP02

Import & Adjust the Design File

Import the wall-mounted key rack file into LightBurn, then adjust the size, position, and settings according to your wood plank.

Double-check the engraving and cutting layers before starting. Make sure the hooks, shelf parts, joints, and decorative front panel are correctly placed.

Set the Correct Laser Focus

Accurate focusing is important for achieving detailed engraving and clean cutting edges on wood. If your machine has auto focus, use it for quick setup. For manual focusing, lower the laser head with the focus stick until it touches the wood surface at the correct angle.

Start Engraving & Cutting

Use the Frame function to outline the laser processing area. Make sure the projected frame matches your wood plank and the rack design stays within the material boundary.

Once everything is aligned, start the laser job. Stay near the machine while it’s running and monitor the engraving and cutting process carefully.

Post Processing

When all components are cut, carefully remove the wood pieces from the laser bed.

Apply glue to the joints, assemble the components firmly, embed the hooks, and attach the engraved front panel to complete the wall-mounted key and knick-knack rack.
