Before your work begins

Clean the lens and mirrors
Check the laser head and nozzle for dust or buildup
Ensure ventilation and air assist are working properly
Confirm the machine is running smoothly and normally

Operational Process

STEP01

Prepare & Position the Material

Plywood boards are flexible, so make sure the sheet is flat before starting. Uneven material can affect both engraving details and cutting quality.

Place the plywood on the laser honeycomb bed and secure it with pins or magnets. Be mindful of the height of the pins or magnets so the sensor does not hit them during processing.

STEP02

Import & Adjust the Design File

Import the dinosaur puzzle design into LightBurn and check whether your plywood size is large enough. For a design with many elements, make sure there are no misalignments or unnecessary overlaps.

Double-check the engraving and cutting parameters before starting. For the engraving layer, use DPI 300 and confirm the scanning setting. For the cutting layer, pay attention to the minimum power so the corners cut cleanly.

STEP03

Set the Correct Laser Focus

Accurate focusing is important for achieving clean engraving details and smooth cutting edges on plywood. If your machine has auto focus, use it for quick setup. For manual focusing, lower the laser head with the focus stick until it touches the plywood surface at the correct angle.

STEP04

Start Engraving & Cutting

Use the Frame function to outline the engraving and cutting area. Make sure the projected frame matches your plywood sheet and the design stays within the material boundary.

Once everything is aligned, start the laser job. Stay near the machine while it’s running and monitor the engraving and cutting progress carefully.

Post Processing

When the laser cutting is complete, carefully remove the dinosaur puzzle pieces from the laser bed. Lightly wipe away dust from the surface before assembly.

Glue the base plate and the panel with the cut-out dinosaur outline together. You can also add color to the puzzle to make it more interesting and playful.
