Introduction

Are you looking for a creative astronomy-inspired model project for your laser cutter?

Try making a 3D moon model from 3mm plywood. The moon is Earth’s only permanent natural satellite, and its familiar shape makes this project a great decorative model for desks, classrooms, bedrooms, or science-themed displays.

With laser cutting, you can create precise plywood parts, assemble them by hand, and turn flat sheets into a layered wooden moon model with a unique handmade look.

Before your work begins

Clean the lens and mirrors
Check the laser head and nozzle for dust or buildup
Use strong air assist when cutting plywood
Test the settings before cutting the final project

Operational Process

STEP01

Prepare & Position the Plywood

Prepare the 3mm plywood and place it flat on the laser working table.

Keep the plywood stable before cutting. The design should also be adjusted according to the actual type and size of the material before processing.
