Introduction

Want to turn an ordinary hat into something unique and personal?

Leather labels add a premium touch to hats, bags, and clothing. With laser marking, you can add custom logos, names, or patterns to leather and then attach the finished label to your hat for a personalized, professional look.

This project is simple, creative, and practical for both DIY users and small businesses. In this tutorial, you will learn how to prepare the leather, import the marking file, set the correct focus, frame the design, and finish a custom leather label for hats.

Before your work begins

Verify that the exhaust fan is functioning properly
Make sure the lens is clean and the laser is running well
Remove the lens cover before marking
Keep the leather flat and test the marking settings before processing the final label

Operational Process

STEP01

Prepare & Position the Leather

Choose a piece of genuine or PU leather and wipe the surface clean to remove dust or oils.

Place the leather flat on the laser bed and secure it with pins or magnets if needed. A flat and stable leather surface helps keep the marking result clean and consistent.

STEP02

Import & Adjust the Marking File

Open your logo, text, or design file in your preferred laser software. Scale it to match the size of your leather label and position it within the material area.

Always double-check the design dimensions in the software to make sure they match the actual marking area. Use the preview or frame function to avoid accidental misplacement.

STEP03

Set the Correct Laser Focus

Focus is the key to a successful laser marking result. If the focus is ignored, the leather label details may not be sharp or consistent.

You can use the red-dot focus method or manual focus. For manual focus, adjust the laser head until the focus stick just touches the leather surface in a vertical position.

STEP04

Frame the Design & Start Laser Marking

Use the frame or outline function to preview the marking area. The red light should show the outline of the design on the leather label surface.

If the frame is not aligned, move the leather or adjust the design position until they match. Once everything is ready, start laser marking with Aurora Lite and monitor the process carefully.

Post Processing

After marking and cutting, gently wipe the labels with a dry or slightly damp cloth to remove residue. Avoid harsh chemicals that could damage the leather finish.

Attach the finished label to your hat by sewing it on with matching or contrasting thread, or use strong fabric glue for a quicker option. Make sure the label is positioned evenly before securing it.
