Introduction

Still pondering what to create with your laser machine?

Try crafting a thermal cup with festive Christmas flair. This project combines holiday motifs such as Santa hats, snowflakes, trees, stockings, stars, and “XMAS” text into a cheerful seasonal design.

Engraved on a red coated thermal cup, the joyful pattern makes everyday drinkware feel more festive and personal.

Before your work begins

Clean the lens and mirrors
Check the laser head and nozzle for dust or buildup
Ensure ventilation and air assist are working properly
Confirm the machine is running smoothly and normally

Operational Process

STEP01

Prepare & Position the Material

Prepare the coated thermal cup and place it securely in the rotary device. Make sure the cup is level and stable so the engraved pattern stays aligned around the curved surface.

Check that the rotary device can rotate smoothly before starting. Proper positioning helps prevent image distortion and keeps the Christmas pattern clean and consistent.

STEP02

Import & Adjust the Design File

Import the Christmas thermal cup design file into LightBurn, then adjust the size, position, and engraving settings according to the cup surface.

Double-check the holiday motifs, “XMAS” text, and rotary settings before starting. Make sure the design fits the engraving area and wraps correctly around the cup.

Set the Correct Laser Focus

Accurate focusing is important for achieving clear engraving on a coated cup. If your machine has auto focus, use it for quick setup. For manual focusing, adjust the laser head until the focus is set on the cup surface at the correct engraving point.
