Introduction

Come and craft a unique acrylic medal!

Unlike heavy gold, silver, or bronze prizes, acrylic is lightweight and transparent, making it a great material for clean, modern medal designs.

With laser engraving and cutting, you can customize the medal shape, text, and pattern to create a meaningful commemorative gift for yourself or a friend.

Before your work begins

Clean the lens and mirrors
Check the laser head and nozzle for dust or buildup
Ensure ventilation and air assist are working properly
Confirm the machine is running smoothly and normally

Operational Process

STEP01

Prepare & Position the Material

Prepare the acrylic board and place it flat on the laser bed. Make sure the surface is clean and stable so the engraved text and cut outline stay accurate.

Secure the acrylic if needed to prevent shifting during engraving and cutting, especially when processing the medal outline and the small ribbon hole.

Import & Adjust the Design File

Import the acrylic medal design file into LightBurn, then adjust the size, position, engraving settings, and cutting settings according to your acrylic board.

Double-check the medal text, decorative pattern, outer cut line, and ribbon hole before starting. Make sure all elements fit within the acrylic sheet.

Set the Correct Laser Focus

Accurate focusing is important for achieving clear engraving and clean cutting edges on acrylic. If your machine has auto focus, use it for quick setup. For manual focusing, lower the laser head with the focus stick until it touches the acrylic surface at the correct angle.

Start Engraving & Cutting

Use the Frame function to outline the laser processing area. Make sure the projected frame matches your acrylic board and the medal design stays within the material boundary.

Once everything is aligned, start the laser job. Stay near the machine while it’s running and monitor the engraving and cutting process carefully.

Post Processing

When the engraving and cutting are complete, carefully remove the acrylic medal from the laser bed.

Take out the neck ribbon and thread it through the small hole on the medal. Adjust the ribbon position, and the acrylic medal is ready to wear, display, or give as a gift.
