Introduction

Still pondering what to make with your laser machine?

Come and make a mini wall-mounted shelf. By using laser cutting and engraving on wood pieces, you can create a handy customized hook rack for small everyday items.

This pleasing holder is perfect for organizing keys, small clothing items, and other accessories that are easy to misplace. Laser creativity brings convenience into daily life, and that is where the fun begins.

Before your work begins

Clean the lens and mirrors
Check the laser head and nozzle for dust or buildup
Ensure ventilation and air assist are working properly
Confirm the machine is running smoothly and normally

Operational Process

STEP01

Prepare & Position the Material

Prepare the camphor wood plank and place it flat on the laser bed. A clean, stable surface helps keep the engraved details and cutting outline accurate.

Secure the wood if needed to prevent shifting during engraving and cutting, especially when processing small slots, hook parts, and decorative details.

STEP02

Import & Adjust the Design File

Import the wall-mounted shelving design file into LightBurn, then adjust the size, position, engraving settings, and cutting settings according to your wood plank.

Double-check the shelf structure, hook parts, engraved details, and cutting paths before starting. Make sure all parts fit within the usable wood area.

STEP03

Set the Correct Laser Focus

Accurate focusing is important for achieving clear engraving and clean cutting edges on wood. If your machine has auto focus, use it for quick setup. For manual focusing, lower the laser head with the focus stick until it touches the wood surface at the correct angle.

STEP04

Start Engraving & Cutting

Use the Frame function to outline the laser processing area. Make sure the projected frame matches your wood plank and the shelving design stays within the material boundary.

Once everything is aligned, start the laser job. Stay near the machine while it’s running and monitor the engraving and cutting process carefully.

Post Processing

When the engraving and cutting are complete, carefully remove all wooden pieces from the laser bed.

Clean away dust and residue, then assemble the cut pieces into the mini wall-mounted shelving. Make sure the hook parts are firmly positioned so the finished rack can hold keys, small accessories, or other lightweight items.
