Introduction
Let's make a wooden WiFi password sign!
In public spaces or homes where guests often visit, repeatedly explaining the WiFi password can be inconvenient. A dedicated WiFi sign solves this problem in a neat and practical way.
By combining laser cutting and engraving, you can craft a custom wooden sign that displays your WiFi passcode clearly while also serving as a distinctive decoration.
Before your work begins
Operational Process
Prepare & Position the Material
Prepare the plywood board and place it flat on the laser bed. A clean, stable surface helps keep the engraved WiFi text and cut wooden pieces accurate.
Secure the wood if needed to prevent shifting during engraving and cutting, especially when processing letter blocks, thin edges, and decorative parts.
Import & Adjust the Design File
Import the wooden WiFi password sign design file into LightBurn, then adjust the size, position, engraving settings, and cutting settings according to your plywood board.
Double-check the WiFi text, password area, letter blocks, outer board, and base layer before starting. Make sure each element is aligned correctly.
Set the Correct Laser Focus
Accurate focusing is important for achieving clear engraving and clean cutting edges on wood. If your machine has auto focus, use it for quick setup. For manual focusing, lower the laser head with the focus stick until it touches the wood surface at the correct angle.
Start Engraving & Cutting
Use the Frame function to outline the laser processing area. Make sure the projected frame matches your plywood board and the sign design stays within the material boundary.
Once everything is aligned, start the laser job. Stay near the machine while it’s running and monitor the engraving and cutting process carefully.
Post Processing
When the engraving and cutting are complete, carefully remove the wooden pieces from the laser bed.
Sand the wooden pieces to smooth the surface, then paint the letter blocks. Apply glue to the back of the outer wooden board and attach it to the base. Finally, glue the colored wooden blocks into place according to the inner guide board, then remove the guide board after everything is aligned.
Come and Try!
After sanding, painting, and assembling, your wooden WiFi password sign will combine practical use with handmade charm.
No more writing WiFi codes on scrap paper. With a custom engraved sign, you can welcome guests more easily while adding a warm decorative touch to your space.
