Introduction

Are you still thinking about what to make with your laser engraver?

Check out this glowing football helmet memorabilia piece. We laser engrave the outline of a football helmet onto acrylic, then insert the acrylic panel into a light base.

When the light shines from below, the engraved lines glow clearly, creating a cool custom night light or sports-themed display.

Before your work begins

Clean the lens and mirrors
Check the laser head and nozzle for dust or buildup
Ensure ventilation and air assist are working properly
Confirm the machine is running smoothly and normally

Operational Process

STEP01

Prepare & Position the Acrylic

Prepare a clean acrylic sheet and place it flat on the laser bed.

Make sure the acrylic is stable and the usable area is large enough for the football helmet design. Keep the sheet flat and secure so the engraving and cutting remain accurate.

STEP02

Import & Adjust the Design File

Import the football helmet night light design into LightBurn, then adjust the size, position, engraving settings, and cutting settings according to your acrylic sheet.

Check the engraved helmet outline and the outer cut line before starting. The engraved details should fit cleanly inside the acrylic panel.

STEP03

Set the Correct Laser Focus

Accurate focusing is important for clean acrylic engraving and cutting.

If your machine has auto focus, use it for quick setup. For manual focusing, lower the laser head with the focus stick until it touches the acrylic surface at the correct angle.

STEP04

Frame the Design and Start Laser Engraving and Cutting

Use the Frame function to check the processing area and confirm that the football helmet design stays within the acrylic sheet.

Once everything is aligned, start the laser job. The acrylic panel will be engraved with the helmet outline and then cut to shape for the light base.

Complete the Task

After processing, remove the acrylic panel from the laser bed and clean the surface if needed.

Insert the engraved acrylic into the light base. When the light shines from below, the helmet outline will glow clearly and create a custom football-themed night light.

Come and Try!

Transparent acrylic and white engraving marks pair beautifully with lighting, making this football helmet night light both unique and fun.

You can use the same technique to create custom night lights, lamps, or wall art. With laser precision and creative ideas, a simple light base can become a personalized illuminated display.
