Introduction

Are you looking for a construction-themed wooden model project for your laser cutter?

Try making a wooden backhoe model from 3mm plywood. This project can be a fun toy, a hands-on model-making activity, or a creative way to introduce children to civil engineering vehicles.

With laser cutting and engraving, you can create detailed plywood parts, assemble them by hand, and turn flat sheets into a realistic backhoe model with a strong engineering theme.

Before your work begins

Clean the lens and mirrors
Check the laser head and nozzle for dust or buildup
Use strong air assist when cutting plywood
Test the settings before cutting the final project

Operational Process

STEP01

Prepare & Position the Plywood

Prepare the 3mm plywood and place it flat on the laser working table.

Keep the plywood stable before cutting. The design should also be adjusted according to the actual type and size of the material before processing.

Import & Adjust the Design File

Draw or prepare the backhoe model design file in CorelDraw, then switch to the laser software using the laser plug-in.

Set the cutting and engraving parameters in the laser software, then click Download to transfer the design to your laser cutting machine.
