Key Information
Introduction
A wooden pumpkin candy basket brings a little extra Halloween character to the usual trick-or-treat setup, with enough personality to work as both a candy holder and seasonal décor.
This project combines shallow engraving and laser cutting on 5mm plywood. Engraved pumpkin details add depth and expression to the design, while the cut panels form the basket structure for holding wrapped candy and small Halloween treats.
Place it by the front door for trick-or-treat night, use it on a party table, or make several versions with different pumpkin faces and decorative details for a coordinated Halloween display.

Before your work begins
Operational Process
Prepare & Position the Plywood
Place the 5mm plywood flat on the Thunder Bolt laser bed and check that the sheet is clean, dry, and free from noticeable warping.
Use honeycomb pins to keep the plywood securely against the work surface. Position the pins outside the pumpkin basket layout so they do not interfere with the engraved details or cutting paths.
Import & Adjust the Halloween Design
Import the Halloween Pumpkin Candy Basket design into LaserMaker and arrange all basket pieces within the usable plywood area.
Assign the pumpkin face, surface details, and decorative lines to the shallow engraving layer. Assign the outer profiles, joints, handles, and structural parts to the cutting layer, then check the size and placement of every component before processing.
Set the Correct Laser Focus
Set the laser focus on the top surface of the 5mm plywood before starting the Halloween basket project. Use the Thunder Bolt autofocus function for a quick setup or confirm the focal position manually.
Keep the plywood flat after focusing so the working distance stays consistent across the pumpkin details, basket panels, handle pieces, and cutting outlines.
Frame the Design & Start Processing
Run the Frame function to preview the complete processing area and confirm that every part of the pumpkin candy basket stays within the plywood sheet.
Check the clearance around the pumpkin panels, handle, decorative details, and connecting parts. Once the Frame position is correct, keep the plywood in place and start the engraving and cutting process.
Assemble the Pumpkin Candy Basket
Remove the finished pieces from the laser bed and identify the front, back, side, base, and handle components before beginning assembly.
Fit the basket pieces together according to the design, keeping the engraved pumpkin faces and Halloween details facing outward. Check each connection as you go so the basket sits evenly and the handle is positioned securely.
Once assembled, your wooden pumpkin basket is ready for wrapped candy, chocolate, or small Halloween treats. Place it by the front door for trick-or-treaters or use it as a centerpiece for a spooky party table.
Come and Try!
The pumpkin basket is ready. Now all it needs is candy before the doorbell starts ringing.
Try changing the pumpkin face, adding bats, ghosts, cobwebs, names, or a short Halloween message to create a basket that fits your own spooky setup.
